Rugs and claims
How a rug is confirmed, and how you claim
What counts as a rug, who signs it off, and the steps from a confirmed rug to money in your wallet.
What counts as a rug
A rug is the creator's own selling causing the collapse. Bluu confirms one only when the creator's wallets — the creator, the wallet their fees go to and any wallet that bought in the launch block — sell a large share of the supply while the price is still near its high, and the price collapses soon after. A crash the creator only sold into afterwards is not confirmed, and neither is a token that simply fades.
Detection covers a token's first 30 days. It is built for the clear, fast case; slow decline is left to the developer's score and to the dead-coin rules.
Who signs it off
Bluu's indexer watches every trade, but it cannot act alone. A rug, a payout list and every other statement the contracts act on must be signed by independent attestors on different providers, each re-reading the chain itself, and the contract checks the signatures. On testnet two signatures are required; on mainnet it is two of three.
- No attestor can move money to a destination of its choosing: the contracts decide where funds go.
- A wrongly confirmed rug can be cancelled before claims open, and a proposed Early Lock seizure waits 48 hours, during which it can be cancelled.
- Everything can be paused at once if a key is ever suspected.
From rug to payout
| Step | When |
|---|---|
| Rug confirmed; the pool freezes and eligible wallets are fixed from a snapshot | 0 h |
| The 50 largest losses and their amounts are published | about 2 h |
| Claims open, after time to check the list | about 4 h |
| Claims close; unclaimed shares go to the site-wide fund | 48 h after opening |
How to claim
- 1. Sell all of the token. A wallet still holding it cannot claim. Your loss was fixed at the snapshot, so selling now does not change your share.
- 2. Open the token's insurance page (“Pool details” on the token page) with the wallet that held it. The claim panel shows whether that wallet is among those paid, and how much.
- 3. Claim once claims open, and confirm in your wallet. The payout is in the token's quote currency: ETH, USDC or SOL.
Where this stops
- Only the 50 largest losses are paid, each capped at 90% of that wallet's loss.
- Buying after the snapshot does not make a wallet eligible, and the creator's own wallets are never eligible.
- Claims close after 48 hours. A share left unclaimed goes to the site-wide fund and can no longer be claimed from the pool.
- A drain after day 30, or a slow one, is not confirmed as a rug, so no claim opens.
